Department Overview

The Local Gas Distribution Engineering & Design department is responsible for public works coordination, asset management, designing smaller scope reconstruction work and providing compliance and technical support for East Bay and North Bay Divisions.

Position Summary

This position will supervise 11 direct reports and provide technical support/guidance to local operating departments. Ensure facilities are operated efficiently and properly designed.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• 4 years of experience in gas distribution engineering.
• MUST live within one hour of local headquarters for emergency response requirements.

Desired:

• A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering (mechanical, civil, or chemical) or equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• 2 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Safety: incorporate safety into work practice for design review and for engineering staff
• Supervision: provide supervision, direction, developmental training and performance evaluation for two senior gas distribution engineers, two distribution engineers, 7 design employees (estimators)
• Compliance Support: support the local Maintenance & Construction (M&C) organization to ensure compliance with California Public Utility Commission (CPUC), Department of Transportation (DOT) and company standards\
• Finance: manage and monitor gas capital budget.
  • Project manage all reliability and capacity projects.
  • Assist M&C to manage expense budget.
• Technical Support: is the gas technical lead for the division.
  • Ensures gas distribution facilities are operated efficiently and properly designed.
• Design: responsible for preparing cost estimates & design for smaller scope reconstruction projects
