DIRECT HIRE POSTION OPPORTUNITY WITH PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC (PG&E)

Position Summary

This position is located in the Gas Transmission Project Engineering Group within the Gas Operations organization.  Gas Operations is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of PG&E’s gas transmission and distribution system including over 6,000 miles of gas transmission and 35,000 miles of gas distribution pipelines throughout California.  

This position will support the design and installation of a new gas distribution SCADA system.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the engineering team that will design the equipment needed to upgrade approximately 5000 field locations to provide remote monitoring or control of the gas distribution system.
  • Responsible for managing the engineering contractor who will perform the production engineering and preparation of construction documents for each of the field locations.
  • Represent the Engineering and Design organization as a key member of the Gas Distribution SCADA project team.
  • Work collaboratively with other PG&E groups and organizations that are a part of the Gas Distribution SCADA project team including Project Management, Land, Environmental, Customer Care, Gas Control and Construction to insure the success of the Gas Distribution SCADA project.
  • Ensure all engineering designs meet applicable codes and PG&E gas standards.
  • Create and foster a safety first work environment.  Demonstrate by personal action a total commitment to employee and public safety.
  • Explore and implement innovative solutions that will insure the gas distribution SCADA system is completed on time, on budget and provides best in class performance.

  • Minimum 10 years of gas transmission and distribution Project Engineering experience
  • Gas transmission and distribution operations experience
  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of gas industry rules and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage high stress situations effectively
  • Commitment to excellence and action orientated
  • BS in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
