Job Title: QA/QC Field Surveillance Specialist
Summary: Our firm, Tri-Power Consulting Services, LLC (TPC), seeks a W2 employee to work as a QA/QC Field Surveillance Specialist. The position is as a contractor for our Electric Utility Client in South Plainfield NJ. This position is primarily field-based. Person must have formal Auditor, and ISO 9001 Quality Management System Training. Must also have a working knowledge of industry codes, standards and regulations (ISO 9001, ASME IX, AWS D1.1, ASNT, ASTM).
AWS and NDE certifications are desirable but no required. Thank you.
Basic Qualifications: Candidate must possess the following education, experience, technical skills and behaviors:
• High School or Equivalent or Technical trainings.
• 5-10 years quality assurance & quality control experience primarily in construction working on moderate to large construction projects.
• Hands on Construction experience in any discipline and capacity related to civil & electrical construction, installations including start-up and close of Construction projects punch list.
• Working Experience in utility (Transmission & Delivery Engineering & Construction Projects) is Preferred.
• Must have excellent written, oral communications skills and & PC literate.
• Think strategically, see the big picture, exercise sound judgment; Self-directed, teamwork, and cooperation.
• Take personal accountability for actions and results.

• Must have a valid driver’s license & vehicle.
Required Competencies:
Must be able to perform: (but not limited to):
• Oversight Surveillance Inspections in inside and outside plant construction to ensure that the Civil & Electrical activities construction are in conformances to specifications, standards & company policies and that the Contractors are performing their services in compliance to their contractual requirements and meeting company expectations.
• Field assessments for procedures & company policies compliance.
• Able to interpret construction drawings, specifications and Material test results.
• Perform Welding inspection and review and approval of Contractor’s Welding procedures & Welder Qualification Records and any other procedures including Quality Plans.
• Review Civil (Concrete) batch results prior to installation of any equipment or structure on the foundation or Base.
• Inspect structural connections for proper tightening of Nuts & Bolts as well as field touch up painting for field drilling.
• Review Mandrel inspection of UG duct banks results.
• Review Contractor’s Quality Control records and checklists that include Material receipt and its receiving inspection records.
• Ensure that the Project is performing Material Preventive Maintenance (PM) and maintaining its records for those Materials that require PMs Prior to its installations and or during its storage.
• Perform field Self-Assessments to evaluate the implementation, adequacy and effectiveness of P&C Project Management Procedures (PMPs) by project team & the Contractors covering HSE, Material Management and Construction Oversight.
Desired Qualifications:
• Formal Auditor Training
• Formal ISO 9001 Quality Management System Training.
• Working knowledge of industry codes, standards and regulations (ISO 9001, ASME IX, AWS D1.1, ASNT, ASTM).
• AWS and NDE certifications are desirable.
• Construction background
*The position is primarily field-based. The responsibilities include supporting and implementing quality assurance related programs, reviewing, and commenting on design and installation specifications for civil, mechanical, and/or electrical systems, components, and/or materials; field surveillance inspections to ensure vendor compliance with contract requirements, especially the technical specifications.
*Assist Quality Program Leader/Manager in performing project assessments and field construction oversight surveillance inspections.

** Will work in the field 4.5 days a week. Friday afternoons will be paperwork
** Typically, 7:00am start time up to 3:00pm. Sometimes Saturdays, sometimes holidays
**NO per diem or mileage reimbursement allowance
**Local candidates (NJ/Metropolitan area)
** Must be able to legally authorized to work in the United States**
